Title:
Robotic Laparoscopic Hysterectomy for Large Cervical Fibroid A Case Report
Authors:  Gamal H. Eltabbakh, M.D.

BACKGROUND: Robotic surgery is rapidly being adopted for different gynecologic procedures. Surgery for cervical fibroids is technically difficult, and there are theoretical advantages to robotic surgery for this indication. There is scarcity of reported cases of robotic hysterectomy for large cervical fibroids.

CASE: A 51-year-old woman with postmenopausal bleeding and pelvic pain was found to have a 7 cm cervical fibroid. She underwent successful robotic hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and had no operative or postoperative complications.

CONCLUSION: Robotic hysterectomy is feasible for women with large cervical fibroids.
