OBJECTIVE: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder that occurs in women of reproductive age. This study aims to analyze the influence of electroacupuncture (EA) on PCOS patients treated with clomiphene citrate (CC) on the follicular size.

STUDY DESIGN: This research is an observational, analytical research with a cross-control approach. The study subjects consisted of 40 PCOS patients divided into 2 groups: 20 infertility PCOS women who were given CC therapy as controls and 20 infertility PCOS women who were given CC+ EA therapy.

RESULTS: The results of analysis with Mann-Whitney test obtained the results of follicle diameter on day 2 (p=0.001), day 6 (p=0.012), day 8 (p=0.009), day 10 (p=0.001), and day 12 (p=0.019); there was a significant difference between the group given CC therapy and the group given CC+EA therapy.

CONCLUSION: Combination CC+EA therapy significantly increased follicle size as compared to that of the group given only CC therapy.
