Authors:  Charbel Awad, M.D., and Tania Damavandy, M.D.
BACKGROUND: Autoamputated, free-floating ovary is an extremely rare gynecological finding that is believed to be secondary to an untreated ovarian torsion.

CASE: A 36-year-old wom-an was found to have an absent right ovary and a free-floating pelvic mass.

CONCLUSION: A free-floating pelvic mass in the setting of a missing adnexal structure could represent a remote autoamputation of the ovary following torsion.
